ProRail has started a large-scale adjustment of the tracks around Den Haag Centraal station. This work is necessary to make the station future-proof: more trains must be able to run faster and more reliably. The project is being carried out in several phases over a number of years by BAM.
Rail Partner Holland makes an important contribution to this project and the ambitions of ProRail with its Rail Conditioning Systems (SSCS).
Preservation of existing systems during track renewal
Around the station, 46 SSCS systems are currently in use for noise reduction and limiting wear and tear on the tracks. Rail Partner Holland is responsible for the installation, maintenance and upkeep of these systems.
Together with ProRail and BAM, we drew up a plan in the preparatory phase to continue using these systems effectively during and after the large-scale adjustments. In this way, the rail conditioning will continue to contribute optimally to a sustainable and quiet infrastructure in the new situation.
Phased redeployment for maximum return
In each construction phase, we will temporarily remove a portion of the SSCS systems, in order to then strategically reposition them on the renewed track configuration. In this way, the systems will continue to function optimally, resulting in a longer lifespan of the track, lower maintenance costs for ProRail and quieter trains for passengers and residents.
This flexible approach underlines how track renewal and sustainable conditioning can go hand in hand.
